ReacTickles Global

ReacTickles Global won an Innovative New Forms of Socially Responsive Media prize in the MIPDOC Content 360 competition at MipTV, Milia, Cannes, France. The pitch at Cannes was led by Will Pearson, from Sevenspiral Limited, and resulted in a contract to develop the idea to prototype stage with the National Film Board of Canada.

The proposal is to take the core design and responsive qualities of the original ReacTickles software and 'mobilise' it for a community of people, regardless of linguistic ability, across the world.

In the same way that the playful and relaxing ReacTickles rendered visible the idiosyncratic interests of its unique 'users' in response to exploratory actions with the body or input devices, ReacTickles Global will explore how the qualities of colour, light, shadow, movement, 3-dimensionality and proximity could become the trigger for new and engaging forms of communication across multiple platforms. A key objective for this is to consider how utilizing the mobility of the user can support interactions that are co-operative, adaptive, responsive and progressive. Having identified the relationship been mobility and intentionality the project will investigate whether the combination of intrinsically motivating forms, rhythms and movements when combined with interaction across platforms could form the basis for a social network in either local of global environments.

This site is based around a number of pages describing the approach being taken, some sample screenshots of work in progress and a page for digital art related interest. New pages will be added here when appropriate. Here is a list of events that Wendy Keay-Bright, the principal investigator of Reactive Colours and Reactickles Global, and others, are speaking and showcasing at. The collaborative nature of the project is reflected in a series of key workshops, which are listed and evaluated on the workshops and their outcomes page.
